Our 2022 Guildford Junior Citizen event ran from Monday, 16th May until Friday, 27th May, and was held again at the Guildford Fire Station.
During that time we welcomed over 1,000 Year 6 children (10-11-Year-Olds) from 20 local primary schools across the borough who took part in a series of interactive safety workshops provided by Surrey Police, Children and Family Health Surrey (School Nurses), the RNLI, Network Rail/ South Western Railway/ British Transport Police, Hope UK and Surrey Fire & Rescue Service.
Our VIP day was on Wednesday, 25th May and the schools attending were Wyke Primary Academy and Ash Grange Primary School. Sadly, the High Sheriff of Surrey was unable to attend as he tested positive for COVID. However, the following VIPs were present. The newly elected Mayor of Guildford Councillor Dennis Booth, together with Mayoress, Mrs Mary Booth, Inspector Alick James, Guildford Borough Commander, Surrey Police, Damian Watts, Area Commander, Surrey Fire & Rescue Service.
As always, we extend our thanks to all the participating agencies for their continued commitment to helping to keep our young people safe. We’d also like to give special thanks to Gary Tillett and his team at the local Waitrose store for providing lunch on the VIP Day.
