Another successful event for us this year was the Guildford Junior Citizen event. The VIP Day was Thursday, 4th July and the event dates were Monday 24th June to Tuesday 9th July 2019. Bushy Hill Junior School attended the VIP day. Over 1,000 Year 6 children (10-11 Year Olds) from local primary schools across the borough took part in a series of interactive safety workshops. The event is sponsored by Surrey County Councillors, the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Safer Guildford Partnership.

Guildford Fire Station hosted the event courtesy of Pat Sheridan, Borough Commander, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.

Participating agencies were Surrey Police, RNLI, Network Rail / South Western Railway / British Transport Police, Hope UK, Animal Welfare (Guildford Borough Council), Joint Enforcement Team (Guildford Borough Council), Children and Family Health Surrey (School Nurses), and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.

Wendy Roberts was Child Safety Media’s on-site coordinator, and principal attendees were Cllr Richard Billington, Mayor, Guildford Borough Council, Mrs Lynda Billington, Mayoress, Guildford Borough Council, David Munro, Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey, Cllr Fiona White, Deputy Leader of Council & Lead for Community Safety, Cllr Julia McShane, Lead for Health & Wellbeing, Insp Andy Hill, Borough Commander, Surrey Police, DCFO Sabrina Cohen-Hatton, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Pat Sheridan, Borough Commander, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
