Here are some photos from the recent VIP Day for our Spelthorne ‘Junior Citizen’ event, which ran for 6 weekdays, from Monday, 16th March to Monday 23rd March 2026.
The event included sessions from the following agencies: –
South East Coast Ambulance Service
Surrey Child and Family Health (School Nurses)
Spelthorne Borough Council (Water Safety)
Spelthorne Borough Council (Recycling)
Network Rail & British Transport Police
and
North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS).
Approximately 800 Year 6 pupils (10-11 Year Olds) from 14 local primary schools across the borough attended the Kempton Park Racecourse in Sunbury-on-Thames, which was provided courtesy of Simon Durrant, General Manager at the Jockey Club (and we were assisted by Events Manager, Aleks Leszkiewicz).
The children took part in a series of interactive safety workshops which taught them some incredibly valuable lessons in a fun environment.
We were honoured to welcome the following guests: –
The Mayor and Mayoress of Spelthorne, Cllr John Doran and Cllr Susan Doran
Tom Thayer, Social Performance & Partnerships Manager – UK at BP International
and Katie Walker, Safer Communities Manager at Runnymede Borough Council.
The school in attendance was St Michaels’s Catholic Primary School in Ashford, and our on-site coordinator on the day was Aggie Tikoisuva (supported by Wendy Roberts).
This event would not have been possible without the kind support of Spelthorne Borough Council and BP International – thank you!
