Please find to follow a series of photos from the recent VIP Day for our Guildford & Waverley ‘Junior Citizen’ event.
We were back in the area to welcome Year 6 pupils (10- to 11-year-olds), from local schools across the two boroughs, to the Guildford and Waverley ‘Junior Citizen’ child safety event which ran from Monday, 1st June to Friday, 12th June 2026. (2 weeks)
The event included sessions from the following agencies: –
South East Coast Ambulance Service, Surrey Child and Family Health (School Nurses), Network Rail/ South Western Railway/ British Transport Police, Freedom Leisure, Thames Basin Heaths Partnership and Take The JUMP.
Approximately 1,100 Year 6 pupils (10-11 Year Olds) from 24 local primary schools across the two boroughs participated in the event; these children taking part in a series of interactive safety workshops which taught them some incredibly valuable lessons, in a fun environment.
Our venue again this year was the Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex, which was provided courtesy of Area Manager, Emma Beavis. Special thanks must go to General Manager, Melanie Main, and all of the team at the venue for making us all so very welcome.
We were honoured to welcome Deputy Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Dominique Williams; Mayor of Waverley, Cllr David Munro; Operational Director, Steve Warriner and Regional Manager, Paul Doyle from Freedom Leisure together with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Advisors Claire Morgan and Luke Wragg from BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.
The schools in attendance were St. Cuthberts Mayne Catholic Primary and Wonersh & Shamley Green CE Primary, and our on-site coordinator on the day was Agnieszka Tikoisuva .
This event would not have been possible without the kind support of BAE Systems Digital Intelligence and Freedom Leisure – thank you!
