Wednesday, 4 December, saw our 2024 Crucial Crewe event draw to a close. Held at Crewe Alexandra Football Club’s Mornflake Stadium, the event played host to over 850 Year 6 pupils from 24 local schools giving them the opportunity to participate in a number of interactive safety workshops. These Year 6 pupils are at an important stage in their lives as they prepare to transition from primary to secondary school.

The workshops were presented by Cheshire Constabulary, SP Energy Networks, CGL – Cheshire East (Young Persons Substance Misuse Service), 0 – 19 School Nursing Cheshire East and Network Rail/ Avanti West Coast and covered a range of topics designed to help the pupils to stay safe in the future. In addition to thanking our workshops teams, we would like to thank our main sponsor, BAE Systems, for their kind sponsorship this year and for making the event possible again. We would also like to thank Crewe Town Council, Radius and SP Energy Networks for their continued support, and acknowledge Tia Hickson and her colleagues at Crewe Alexandra FC, for making us all very welcome.

On Tuesday, 3 December (our VIP Day), we were honoured to welcome High Sheriff, Clare Haywood MBE DL, together with Deputy Mayor, Cllr Sally Graham and CGL’s Deputy Service Manager, Bev Nixon to the event.  Our VIPs witnessed children from The Berkeley Academy in Wistaston thoroughly enjoying themselves whilst being provided with a clearer understanding of how to stay safe.
