Over the next week, young people from across Knowsley will be given important safety advice.
The ‘Crucial Crew’ event, coordinated by Child Safety Media and sponsored by Merseyside Police, will take place at Alamein Barracks in Huyton.
Hundreds of primary school pupils will be given lessons from a wide range of safety organisations including Merseyside Police, Knowsley Housing Trust, British Transport Police, Merseytravel, Knowsley Council’s Road Safety Team, 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (Schools 4 Health Team) and Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.
Pupils will be presented with a number of dangerous or challenging situations such as road hazards or house fires – and take part in role-play exercises to learn how to deal with the situation.
The ‘hands-on’ safety event teaches young people about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, including anti-social behaviour, personal safety and hate crime.
Pupils are given the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the professionals, through practical demonstrations and discussions in real-life situations – all within a safe environment.
The workshops run from the 23rd to the 27th March at the Alamein Barracks on Liverpool Road.
