Wednesday, 26 June, saw our Oldham ‘Crucial Crew’ event draw to a close. Held this year at the Oldham Event Centre, courtesy of Darren Royle (CEO of Oldham Athletic FC), the event played host to over 1,700 pupils from local schools giving them the opportunity to participate in a number of interactive safety workshops. These Year 6 children are at an important stage in their lives as they prepare to transition from primary to secondary school.

The workshops were presented by Greater Manchester Police, British Transport Police, TravelSafe Partnership, Cadent Gas, Mahdlo Youth Zone and School Nurses, and covered a range of topics designed to help the pupils to stay safe in the future.

A VIP Day was held on Thursday, 20 June 2024, when we honoured to welcome the Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Zahid Chauhan OBE; Chris Wareing, Chairman of Mahdlo Youth Zone and both GMP’s Chief Inspector, Ian Partington and Inspector, Nick Derbyshire of the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, based at Oldham’s Divisional Headquarters.

Thanks as always to everyone who worked so hard to make the event a great success. Special thanks go to Alison Clark and Claire Melia, at the Oldham Event Centre, who made us very welcome.
