Our Wigan Crucial Crew event took place from Monday 20th April to Friday 1st May 2026, welcoming over 1,250 Year 5 pupils from primary schools across the borough. Throughout the two weeks, children developed essential life skills through a series of interactive and engaging scenarios delivered by our partner agencies.
This year’s partner agencies included British Transport Police, Greater Manchester Police, Merseyside Water Rescue, TravelSafe, We Are With You, Wigan Road Safety, Wigan School Nurses, and Wigan Warriors. Together, they provided valuable safety advice and practical learning experiences to help young people stay safe and make informed decisions.
We are also delighted to congratulate Charlotte from Nicol Mere Primary School, who was the winner of this year’s Picture Competition. Charlotte is pictured here with Michael Crosthwaite, Neighbourhood Inspector from Wigan Police. Her artwork beautifully captured the important safety messages and valuable lessons she learned during Crucial Crew.
