Here are some pictures from our recent Watford & Three Rivers Crucial Crew event that ran from Monday, 29th June to Tuesday, 7th July 2026 (7 weekdays) at Watford Football Club’s Vicarage Road Stadium.

The ‘Crucial Crew’ scheme, aims to teach children about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, such as personal safety, staying safe online, knife crime, fire safety, home safety, safeguarding, health & wellbeing, first aid (learning how to save a life; DRABC; basic life support – CPR;  recovery position). making healthy choices, avoiding peer pressure and how to understand emotions and have strategy’s in place to keep calm.

Over 700 Year 6 children (10-11 Year Olds) from 21 local primary schools across the boroughs took part in a series of interactive safety workshops with agencies including Hertfordshire Constabulary (local Safer Neighbourhood Team Team), Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service, Network Rail, Spectrum Families and Young Peoples Services (CGL) and Herts Young Homeless who made the children aware of their trigger points and how to take evasive measures to ensure happier engagements with friends family and the community around them. The workshops give pupils the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the professionals, through practical demonstrations and discussions in real-life situations.

A VIP Day was held on Friday, 3rd of July 2026, and was attended by special guests that included Michelle Wright, Community Safety & Safeguarding Manager, Lorna Smyth, Senior Digital Services and Communication Officer, Three Rivers District Council, CI Dan Rainbird, District Commander Hertfordshire Constabulary, Inspector Ben Harper, Three Rivers Neighbourhood Policing Team and Es Brewer-Reeves, Children & Young People’s Team Leader, Spectrum Families and Young Peoples Services (CGL).

Schools in attendance on the day were Arnett Hill JMI School and Werren Dell Primary School.

The event would not have happened without key sponsor, Three Rivers District Council, and the very kind support of Watford Football Club, who provided the venue for free and whose staff made us all really welcome and went out of their way to ensure that the event ran smoothly – thank you!
