The annual flu vaccination programme is critical to our winter planning. PHE is working with the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England to roll out the biggest campaign in UK history to protect more people than ever this coming season.
For the first time, the programme is being expanded to include people aged 50-64 and household contacts of people that have been on the shielding list, in addition to the annual push to vaccinate as many health and social care staff as possible.
The flu vaccination programme in schools will be going ahead in the autumn term and the programme is also being extended to include all Year 7 children in secondary schools for the first time.
PHE has updated resources to support flu vaccination in schools, including:
Guidance to assist all school staff and headteachers with any questions about the nasal spray flu vaccination being offered to children in primary schools during the autumn term 2020
