This year’s Macclesfield Crucial Crew event ran from Wednesday, 18th May to Thursday, 26th May 2022, and was held at Macclesfield RUFC.

Approximately 800 Year 6 children (10-11-Year-Olds) from 25 local primary schools across the borough took part in safety education sessions with Cheshire Police, 0 – 19 School Nursing Cheshire East, Gist, CGL – Cheshire East (YP’s Substance Misuse Service), SP Energy Networks and Macclesfield RUFC.

The event taught children about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, such as personal safety, mental health and emotional wellbeing, road safety, drug and alcohol awareness education, electricity safety and healthy living (promoting respect, enjoyment, discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork.

Our VIP Day was Thursday, 26th May and we were pleased to welcome the Deputy-Mayor of Cheshire East, Cllr Rod Fletcher, Vice-Chair of the Highways and Transport Committee, Cllr Laura Crane, and pupils from Vernon Primary School and Wilmslow Preparatory School.

Thanks as always to everyone who worked so hard to make the event a great success. Special thanks to Ruth Brown, Store Manager, and her team at the local Tesco Superstore for providing lunch on the day.
