This year’s event ran from Monday, 15th April to Friday, 26th April, and during this time over 1,200 Year 6 pupils from local primary schools across the borough took part in a series of interactive safety workshops. As usual, there were plenty of fun-filled activities and lots of important safety messages for the children to take away with them.
Children from Notre Dame School in Cobham joined us at the showcase, and we were honoured to have Deputy Lieutenant Mrs Mary Zoeller, High Sheriff of Surrey – Mr Shahid Azeem DL and Mayor of Elmbridge – Cllr Richard Williams as our special guests, together with Strategic Director at Elmbridge Borough Council – Mr Ray Lee.
Special thanks must go to Michael Cross (General Manager at Places Leisure) and his team for making us very welcome at the Xcel Sports Hub, and sponsors, the Elmbridge Community and Safety Partnership, for their support.
Most important of all, we would like to thank everyone involved from each of the participating organisations, for working so hard on our behalf to keep local children safe. Agencies taking part this year were British Transport Police, PA Housing, Places Leisure, Network Rail / South Western Railway, Barclays Bank and Hope UK.

Thank you very much for inviting me to attend the 2024 Elmbridge ‘Junior Citizen’ event yesterday. I had a really enjoyable morning with you and was very impressed with the workshops on offer and the quality of the delivery of these.
I believe what you are doing by running Junior Citizen events such as this makes an incredibly positive impact on these young people and will be equipping them with some very useful skills and knowledge for the future.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain to the children what The Surrey Lieutenancy is and does. It was a pleasure to meet you and the team, thank you for making me feel so welcome.
