Here are some pictures from our recent Watford & Three Rivers Crucial Crew event that ran from Tuesday, 1st July to Wednesday, 9th July 2025 (7 weekdays) at Watford Football Club’s Vicarage Road Stadium.
The ‘Crucial Crew’ scheme, aims to teach children about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, such as personal safety, staying safe online, knife crime, fire safety, home safety, safeguarding, health & wellbeing, the pros and cons of gaming, and first aid (learning how to save a life; DRABC; basic life support – CPR; recovery position).
Over 600 Year 6 children (10-11 Year Olds) from 17 local primary schools across the boroughs took part in a series of interactive safety workshops with agencies including Hertfordshire Constabulary (local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Child Criminal Exploitation Team), Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust, School Nurses and East of England Ambulance Service. The workshops give pupils the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the professionals, through practical demonstrations and discussions in real-life situations.
A VIP Day was held on Wednesday, 9th July 2025, and was attended by special guests that included Luther Blissett OBE DL; Cllr Stephen King (Chair), Cllr Sarah Nelmes (Deputy Leader) and Cllr Andrew Scarth of Three Rivers District Council; Mark Barber (Deputy Chief Fire Officer) and Darren Cook (Assistant Chief Fire Officer) of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service; CI Andy Wiseman (Chief Inspector for Watford) and Insp Ben Harper (Inspector for Three Rivers NPT) of Hertfordshire Constabulary; and Fiona Emslie (5-19 School Nursing Team Lead) of Public Health Nursing.
Schools in attendance on the day were Charlotte House Preparatory School (Rickmansworth) and Eastbury Farm Primary School (Northwood).
The event would not have happened without key sponsor, Three Rivers District Council, and the very kind support of Watford Football Club, who provided the venue for free and whose staff made us all really welcome and went out of their way to ensure that the event ran smoothly – thank you!
